Our history began in 1936 when
Frederick William Thorpe started
producing "Thorlux" circular reflectors
in his workshop in Birmingham,
Central England.
Product Quality and innovation
assisted the Company's rapid growth
and in 1965, the parent company;
F.W. Thorpe PLC was floated on the
London Stock Exchange.
Today, with a wealth of experience
behind us, we design, manufacture
and supply a vast array of professional
lighting systems to customers

THE THORLUX FACTORY AND
HEADQUARTERS
Our modern 15,000 square metre
factory in Redditch, England, is
equipped with highly technical
manufacturing processes enabling
us to meet even the toughest lighting challenges. Excellent customer
service and satisfaction has always
been our goal.
About Us
DESIGN
Computer-aided design (CAD) is used in the design
of Thorlux products and where applicable, modern
computer-controlled methods are used in their
manufacture.
PHOTOMETRIC DATA
The Company has a B.S.I. registered Photometric
Test Laboratory, housing one of the most modern
Goniophotometers in the United Kingdom enabling
fast production of accurate Photometric Data.
MANUFACTURING
Our modern computer-controlled manufacturing
facilities help ensure that products are produced
to the highest standards possible.
PRODUCT TESTING
To maintain our reputation for high quality products,
we rigorously test our luminaires using the latest
technology. Testing includes low temperatures down
to -60C, high temperatures up to 70C and also for
ingress of dust and water.
QUALITY
The Company is a member of the Lighting Industry federation and is also assessed to BS EN ISO 9001:2000 which is our customers' assurance
that Thorlux luminaires are subject to the most stringent quality control.
