Introduction to Lighting Controls

Smart+

The Thorlux Smart+ System provides an effective method of lighting control which minimises energy consumption whilst retaining high levels of user comfort. A discrete sensor, integral to the luminaire, monitors ambient light and presence to control lamp output, and to ensure that the area is only illuminated when occupied.

What's new in Smart+?

Smart+ is a revision of the Thorlux Smart System which includes several new features:

User-control is now enhanced with the addition of scene control capability to each individual luminaire using SmartTouch wall mounted plates or SmartScene infra-red handsets, without compromising the energy saving features of the system. You can take control of an example Smart+ application using SmartTouch by visiting our Smart+ Interactive Scene Control.

The Smart System range has been widened beyond the control of individual or groups of Smart luminaires. Using the new SmartHub, control of non-Smart lighting, reacting to presence signals transmitted by Smart luminaires within its group, can be integrated into any Smart scheme. SmartHub will also react to scene setting commands issued from SmartTouch and SmartScene enabling Smart schemes to be enhanced, for example, with a wide range of architectural luminaires. These new devices have plug and socket capability, for speed and ease of installation or can be conventionally wired.

Smart luminaires now also individually monitor and log their own operational power usage and on/off timing. This information can be retreived using the Smart Programmer.
