Thorlux Tunnel Lighting - Technical Market Leaders Posted on Monday, 11 October 2010 Following the successful completion of the tunnel lighting refurbishment of the M25 Bell common Tunnel, the Thorlux Scanlight energy saving and environmentally-friendly DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) based luminaires and control systems have become the Highways Agency’s (HA) recent preferred choice for both new-build and refurbishment projects. The dimmable, energy saving system, manufactured in our ISO 14001 accredited UK factory has helped to deliver significant savings in both installation costs and energy usage, leading to the HA again selecting Scanlight to achieve these benefits on the Hatfield A1M refurbishment. The same Scanlight system is currently being installed at the new build Hindhead Tunnel on the A3, which, when completed will be the UK’s longest non-estuarial road tunnel diverting traffic away from the village of Hindhead and under the site of specific scientific interest known as “The Devils Punchbowl”. Thorlux dimmable lighting technology has also been selected for the refurbishment of Transport for London’s Northbound Blackwall Tunnel. Further afield, we have successfully completed the re-lighting of the Limerick Tunnel in Ireland, again using dimmable technology. When taken together these projects account for the majority of road tunnel lighting projects across the British Isles undertaken in the last eighteen months, and demonstrate Thorlux Lighting’s dedication, drive and commitment to providing the most cost effective, energy efficient and environmentally-friendly lighting solutions for all road tunnel projects.
