Tunnel-Line – Corrosion-resistant subsurface luminaire for the rail industry

Thorlux continues to innovate solutions for the rail industry with the new corrosion-proof Tunnel-Line, a purpose-designed, wirelessly controlled subsurface luminaire.

Developed in cooperation with rail operators for challenging tunnel environments, Tunnel-Line can be supplied in a range of wattages and integrated with wireless SmartScan controls. The luminaire provides high levels of lighting with excellent uniformity, helping to ensure worker safety in tunnels, allowing work to be completed quickly and efficiently and minimising disruption.

Tunnel-Line is constructed from corrosion-resistant 1.5 mm 316L-grade stainless steel, rated to IP66 protection against water and dust ingress. The cover is made from IK08-rated clear glass, enabling unimpeded light distribution while maintaining resilience.

Thorlux SmartScan lighting wireless management can be used to control switching; authorised personnel can switch the luminaires on and off locally using manual wireless switches at the entrance to each tunnel or remotely using the SmartScan Gateway. SmartScan also enables off-site monitoring, commissioning, and support, reducing on-site maintenance.

Tunnel-Line is compliant with sub-surface or S12 standards in accordance with BS-EN-IEC60598-1 2021+A11:2022.
